Young Savers Young savers are always welcome to join the Credit Union. We offer young saver accounts up to the age of 16. To open a savings account you can join at any of our collection points or at the Central Office. All we need to know is the young saver’s name; current address; date of birth and the details of who will be helping to run the account, this can be filled out on this form, which can be taken to your collection point or taken to the main office. Every young saver account needs a trustee who can sign for withdrawals on the young saver’s behalf. We will need to see the usual adult member identification for the trustee and the birth certificate or a letter from the school confirming the young saver is registered with them. If you wish to make a share withdrawal, please complete a form, including the trustee’s signature, and let us know how you want to receive the money. Forms are available from this link; the Central Office or any collection point. You can either post completed forms directly to us, return them to your local collector or make a withdrawal at the main office, though remember this can only be done by the trustee of the account and I.D. must be provided, a list of the I.D. we accept is listed here. Sheffield Credit Union is working with local volunteers to run Young Saver Clubs in schools across the City. If your school does not have a savings club and you would like to see one there please call the Central Office and we will do all we can to help start one. At age 16 the young saver becomes responsible for the account. A letter will be issued asking for updated identification and a sample signature. Full adult member status begins at age 18. Adult status gives the member the right to vote at our Annual General Meeting and to access our loan products.
